PBT Returns to Display Tank after 30 Day QT

Last night I returned the Powder Brown Tang to the display tank after 30 days in quarrantine.  He was originally displaying ich-like symptoms.  I used a sponge filter in the QT and did not run the power filter. I treated with a copper medication when the copper test indicated it was necessary.

One of the Blue / Green Chromis was in there with him, but sadly, the Chromis passed away on the last night.  He wasn’t display ich symptoms, but I put him in there because it looked like he had a wound from fighting.  On the last night, I noticed at feeding time that he was swimming slightly crooked and has back half of the body seemed to be paralyzed.  From my freshwater experience I knew this was not a good sign.  I checked later and found him upside-down on the bottom glass.  Thinking he was done, I pulled him out with the net, but he took one really quick lap around the tank, then settled upside-down again on the bottom.  This time he didn’t move, even after trying for 5 minutes to see if he was still alive.

The next day I re-acclimated the Tang to the 90 gallon reef.  He went back in and seemed to enjoy being back in his home!  He was swimming all around at full speed and kept buzzing the jawfish’s burrow just to make the jawfish mad!  He even went immediately to the nori when I fed the tank, meaning he is back to his normal self.  I pulled the camera out and the Tang was photo-genic once again, a good sign!
